Ground segment and IT
There are few activities at the European Astronaut Center that are not supported in some fashion by the EAC’s Ground Segment and Infrastructure team (GS & IT). To serve EAC’s varied stakeholders the team maintains and pursues numerous IT projects and services, many of which are central to successful activities involving European crew on-board the International Space Station.

The team also hold full responsibility of all the systems within and supporting EAC’s International Space Station control rooms a.k.a The EAC ground segment.

With almost 100 combined years of experience in multiple fields of engineering and IT the team is well prepared to mentor interns through challenging projects that will have a real impact on services at EAC.

Desired skills and experience

You must be actively pursuing an academic qualification in a field related to IT such as computer science, computer engineering or software development.

  • The ability to develop basic web or virtual reality (VR) applications is required
  • Experience with network engineering and common network protocols is big plus
  • Candidates should be motivated by delivering valuable solutions
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Fluent English (minimum CEFRA C1)

A passion for human spaceflight would be beneficial, but most important are enthusiasm, curiosity and resourcefulness.

Internship start dates are flexible. Candidates should be available for four to six months.
