Through observations made by the Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment (GOME) on ERS-2, scientists have been able to track the hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica. This image shows how the hole has changed from 1995 to 2000. GOME was one of the longest serving ozone monitors in the world, with its success leading to a string of similar satellite sensors.
