Europe soil moisture decrease

The first image shows average values of soil moisture data as derived from SMOS in February 2011; in the second image the same information is shown for 2012. The orange and yellow colouring depict little to no moisture, while green and blue depict higher levels of soil moisture. From these images, soil moisture decrease in areas of Spain, France and the UK is very visible.
