SMOS tracks Hurricane Igor

Estimates of surface wind speeds from SMOS data along the track of Hurricane Igor in 2010. The SMOS microwave radiometer, which operates in the L-band, has the unique ability to see through clouds and rain to provide reliable estimates of surface wind speeds in intense storms.
