Carbon dioxide (CO2) plume measured from an aircraft over a power plant in support of the development of ESA’s CarbonSat candidate mission. The Mamap instrument used to measure the plume helps demonstrate the feasibility of CarbonSat, which aims to image atmospheric carbon dioxide and methane (CH4) from space. The image shows the flight tracks and corresponding measurements. The position of the power plant is marked with a black cross and the plume, sketched in brown/red, is extrapolated from the data.
