The mission objectives of AIM will include: the characterisation of the smaller of the two asteroids, the deployment of a set of cubesats into space, as well as a small lander onto the surface of the asteroid, the monitoring of the impact of DART, a kinetic impactor, which will be developed by NASA, the measuring of the deflection of Didymoon's orbit and the impact crater in the aftermath, and relaying of data to earth by laser communication.
