Juice will launch on an Ariane 5 in 2023, and take advantage of the gravity of Venus and Earth for helpful boosts on its journey to Jupiter. After entering orbit around the gas giant in July 2031, the spacecraft will spend three years observing Jupiter’s atmosphere and magnetosphere whilst making flybys of Jupiter’s large moons: Callisto, Europa and in particular Ganymede. In December 2034, Juice will enter into orbit around Ganymede, becoming the first spacecraft ever to orbit a moon other than our own, and the first to change orbits from another planet to one of its moons.
