The European satellite Mars Express has been photographing the surface of the Red Planet since January 2004. The most interesting of these images can be found here, complete with comments, in downloadable files so that teachers can use them more easily in class.
Some of the images are in 3D and can only be viewed with special red/green glasses, which are easy to make using cellophane.
High resolution images, which you are free to use in class, can be downloaded from ESA's multimedia gallery.
Images published between January and November 2004
