Since November 2000, there is an authorised user which with a single phone call can request the mobilisation of space and ground resources to obtain data and information on major disasters. Educational support material has been developed based on this service known as The International Charter "Space and Major Disasters".
Contents
The material contains four pages explaining how the International Charter works, and an introduction to the use of satellites and satellite images. As a teaching suggestion, the material includes three worksheets which could be used in the classroom to check how much the children have learned and to stimulate the discussion.
