Appathon success
Six teams emerged victorious recently after an intense Appathon weekend. The winning teams are now through to the ESA App Camp, which will take place in Barcelona from 25 February to 3 March.
The Appathon attracted more than 170 participants from around 30 countries. It was held simultaneously at six ESA Business Incubation Centres and partner locations across Europe on 24–25 January. Teams competed to design mobile app concepts using Earth observation data and the SAP Hana Cloud Platform to address some of the world’s most pressing problems. Topics included big geo data, crowdsourcing solutions, environmental protection, food security and the internet of things.
Each winning team will now receive extra coaching to help them develop their app concepts ahead of the Barcelona event, where they could win the chance to present their app at the Mobile World Congress 2015.
