From about 600 km high, the ESA’s Proba-1 satellite captured this image of a heart-shaped island in the Pacific Ocean.

Located about 20 km north of Bora Bora, Tupai is a coral island in French Polynesia.

With white-sand beaches and turquoise waters, this tropical paradise has become a romantic daytrip destination for couples. The island has no permanent residents apart from the coconut plantation workers.

In this false-colour image, the land appears red and encircles a shallow lagoon. The line cutting through the land at the upper right is an airfield.

This image was acquired on 18 June 2008 by the CHRIS Compact High Resolution Imaging Spectrometer on Proba-1.
