Cassini to make sixth fly-by of Titan
The NASA/ESA/ASI Cassini spacecraft will make its sixth planned fly-by of Titan on Monday, 22 August 2005. Its closest approach to Saturn's largest satellite will be at an altitude of about 3669 kilometres and a speed of 6 kilometres per second (21 500 km/h) at about 12:13 CEST.
Making its first return to Titan since its 16 April, the spacecraft will continue studying the moon's complex atmosphere. It will hunt for stratospheric compounds, including water, and continue to study cloud formation and evolution.
The spacecraft is expected to return high-resolution images of Titan's high southern latitudes and will have a rare opportunity to study the interaction between Titan and the magnetosphere of Saturn in an exotic region.
