Next 17 November at 10:06 local time, 13h06 GMT, Ariane 5 will launch four Galileo satellites from Europe’ Spaceport in Kourou, French Guyane.
This mission will mark the first use of Ariane 5 to loft spacecraft for Europe’s Galileo global navigation system with a new variant able to send four Galileo satellites at the altitude of 23 222 km.
This launch is a major step up for Galileo. The 14 Galileo satellites already in orbit have been launched two at a time, by seven previous Soyuz missions from French Guiana.
Galileo is funded and owned by the European Union, with overall responsibility for management and implementation held by the European Commission. Design and development of the new generation of systems and infrastructure has been assigned to the European Space Agency.
This feed will propose latest images from Ariane and Galileo satellites launch campaign in Kourou and will include interviews in different languages with ESA and Arianespace managers in charge of this mission.
