    • Description

Europe’s fourth Earth Explorer mission, Swarm, will produce the most accurate map ever made of our planet’s magnetic field.

Its measurements will help improve our understanding of the Earth’s interior and will be used to predict the effects of solar activity.

Swarm is due for launch in the coming months but, because the mission is so demanding, designing and building the satellites has taken more than five years.
