The 'SpaceHouse' is an invitation from ESA's Technology Transfer Programme to the building and construction industry to start thinking about the new materials and forms made possible by the use of strong high-tech carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) material. One application for example could be large light roofs for airport terminal buildings where CFRP offers new design freedom not feasible with other materials. The feeling of space and weightlessness is maintained in the SpaceHouse by the central body of the house not touching the ground.
