Artist’s view of Mercury

Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun, and the second smallest planet in the Solar System. It is also the least visited planet of our planetary neighbourhood.

In 2019, Mercury will receive the visit of ESA’s BepiColombo - the third spacecraft to study this planet at close range and the second, after NASA’s MESSENGER, to enter into orbit around it.
