The winner of the special ESA Innovation Prize at the European Satellite Navigation Competition 2012 is inventor Jonathan Durant from France with his project Citizen First Aid. It consists of a smart phone application designed to call for rapid support in emergency situations. Through satnav, users are located and notified when, for instance, an individual nearby urgently needs medication or an elderly person suddenly requires assistance. Durant took home the €10 000 Innovation Prize sponsored by ESA.
