Ground-based satellite transponder

Two of the ground-based transponders previously used by the ESA Envisat mission, like the one shown in this picture, will become subject of study and redesign for university student teams participating in the new Sentinel-1 Student Transponders educational project. Through the modified transponders the students will eventually be able to acquire and analyse data from the Sentinel-1 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR).
