UK band Public Service Broadcasting take a look at a Foton experiment capsule, its exterior still charred by its fiery reentry, during a recent visit to ESA’s technical heart.
The capsule is displayed at the Erasmus centre for microgravity research, part of ESA’s ESTEC technical centre in Noordwijk, the Netherlands.
The Russian-built Fotons are unmanned, retrievable capsules, providing up to 18 days of microgravity environment for a wide range of experiments in a versatile field of research.
The critically acclaimed Public Service Broadcasting make instrumental electronica incorporating public information films and other archive footage. Their latest album is the spaceflight-themed The Race for Space.
Seen left to right are J.F. Abraham (bassist), Wrigglesworth (drummer) and J. Willgoose Esq (guitarist and keyboardist).
If you’d like to see ESTEC for yourself, your chance comes on Sunday 4 October with the annual ESTEC Open Day.
