ESA’s head of telerobotics, André Schiele, introduces journalists to the rover that astronaut Andreas Mogensen is scheduled to operate from orbit next week.
This is the Interact Centaur rover that Andreas, launched into orbit on Wednesday, will be controlling from the International Space Station. He will drive it into position and then perform a task requiring submillimetre precision.
The test, scheduled for Monday, 7 September, will be the first force-feedback teleoperation of a rover robotic arm system on Earth from space.
