CADMOS
The Centre d'Aide au Développement des activités en Micro-pesanteur et des Opérations Spatiales (CADMOS) is the Human Spaceflight Department of the French Space Agency (CNES).
It was created in 1993 to support French manned flights to the Mir station and on the Shuttle spacecraft.
Both an USOC and part of ESA's team, CADMOS supports the development, prepares the operations, operates and collects data of European and international payloads on the International Space Station.
CADMOS is structured in four sections: human physiology and life support, applied sciences, technology applications and fundamental physics.
Inside each section, the team cooperates to facilitate the successful development of the experiments. In terms of payload preparations and operations, CADMOS is the largest USOC.
The centre has a control room, a simulations room, a special visitors' room and a laboratory area for the development team.
CADMOS is the responsible for the European Physiology Modules (EPMs). As part of their field of expertise, CADMOS operates ESA human physiology and fluidics experiments.
Examples of facilities and experiments operated by CADMOS are the EPMs are a research facility for human physiology experiments in the Columbus laboratory, and the Grip and Grasp experiments – two neuroscience studies looking into how our brain takes microgravity into account during simple motor tasks.
