Fraud and other financial misconducts are increasing both at national and international levels, made worse by new internet-enabled threats.

ESA aims to prevent fraud and corruption both internally and in the frame of its business relationships with its partners through its ESA Guiding Principle and robust control system in place.

ESA’s approach is described in its Policy on the Prevention, Detection and Investigation of Fraud which addresses both ESA internal employees and external partners, persons and entities. This policy shall therefore be known and applied by everybody working at or with ESA.

This is why the ESA Compliance, Quality and Ethics Office is actively conducting an awareness programme for its employees.

Given the importance of applying ESA’s policy, this awareness programme is now extended to external partners through a dedicated session published on ESA’s Learning Hub.

This short session explains the main principles of ESA’s policy, your role in contributing to fraud prevention and actions you are expected to take.

Topics covered include prevention and awareness, detection and reporting as well as investigation.

By following the session, you will:

  • Learn about the ESA policy on the prevention, detection and investigation of fraud and understand how it should be applied by everyone working with ESA.
  • Acquire a good understanding of the prevention measures, reporting mechanisms and detailed investigation procedure in place.
  • Understand the importance of reporting any suspicion or occurrence of fraud inside or outside the Agency, including by persons and entities external to ESA.

Because any instance or suspicion of fraud may endanger ESA’s reputation and its relations with its economic partners, it is essential to know and properly apply ESA’s policy. This is also a necessary way to contribute to maintaining a trustworthy relationship between you and the Agency.

We hope you find this session useful and we rely on your active contribution to ESA Integrity and Whistleblowing. Your feedback will be very much appreciated.
