European space industry meets at ESA's virtual Industry Space Days
New, emerging, and established players in the European space industry came together for two days of presentations, discussions and networking at ESA’s online Industry Space Days (ISD) on 7–8 December.
1400 participants from 40 countries and 850 organisations registered for this event.
This year’s ISD Conference edition focused on commercialisation and featured keynotes and panel discussions with speakers from ESA, industry, industry associations and institutional partners.
“Commercialisation is a priority for us in Agenda 2025 and is a clear trend for space worldwide. Our vision and ambition is that Europe will host a large, dynamic, fast-growing and competitive commercial space ecosystem by 2025,” said Géraldine Naja, ESA’s new Director of Commercialisation, Industry and Procurement who chaired a panel with fellow ESA Directors.
During the ISD, industry round tables addressed various topics such as active space debris removal and in-orbit servicing, on-orbit logistics services or space transportation.
As in previous years, ESA presentations on business opportunities, activities and programmes formed the backbone of day two of the event.
In parallel, ESA BIC start-up companies pitched their businesses and ideas in two sessions.
The SME Office plans to host the next Industry Space Days at ESA/ESTEC in Noordwijk, The Netherlands on 28–29 September 2022.
