Vacancy: Director of Science
We are looking for a new Director of Science to be based at the European Space Astronomy Centre, near Madrid in Spain. The Science Programme is both a flagship and symbol for the Agency. It enhances European capability in space science and applications, builds European industrial technical capacity, and brings together European national space programmes.
The Director of Science supports the ESA Director General in discharging his responsibilities and tasks and participates in the pursuit of ESA’s overall objectives. He/she contributes, in the area of Space Science and Exploration, to forming the “Team of Teams” at senior management level and is responsible for the definition, planning and execution of the Agency’s Science Programme, for setting up cooperative links with the related programmes of ESA Member States and international partners and for the definition of the scientific elements of exploration projects.
