ESOC marks International Women’s Day
As part of the European Space Agency's celebration of International Woman's Day 2009, ESOC will host a professional seminar on the theme of "Women in Peace and War," on 9 March 2009.
ESOC's guest speaker is Dr Anja Stuckert, a representative of PLAN - an international non-affiliated humanitarian development organisation with a special focus on children.
PLAN is a child-centred community development organisation that enables families and communities in the poorest countries to make lasting improvements in the lives of their children. The concept is to help girls by helping and creating equality for boys and girls.
In the countries where PLAN operates, one out of five children die before the age of five, and the ones who survive often go hungry and have no chance of learning to read and write.
