SOHO observes solar storm

A large Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) was recorded by SOHO from the Sun on 7 April 1997. The LASCO C2 coronagraph shows the corona shortly before the eruption (top left), as it begins (top right) and as it brightens everywhere. [Image Date: 01-04-97] [97.07.010-003]
