Space alloys help mend bones

Wire-form bone plates developed by Anson Medical enhance rapid bone repair. The shape memory alloy (SMA) spring element is placed under tension across a fracture. The tension draws the broken bones together to ensure correct bone union. The wire-form SMA device has the advantage of being very conformal on some of the very complex surfaces that appear on the skull and face.
