View of Comet Machholz from SOHO's LASCO instrument
The mask in the LASCO coronagraph hides the bright Sun, the size of which is shown by the inner ring. This image of Comet Machholz was captured on 8 January 2002 by the LASCO C2 instrument on SOHO.
