Wind speed measured by Envisat’s RA-2

This image shows wind speed across the world, measured through most of Envisat orbital cycle 15 - across 21 days from 9 to 28 April 2003. This is the first cycle of Envisat RA-2 sensor data to be officially distributed to the users. Derived from wave roughness measurements, this data are now operationally available to users worldwide
