This close-up image was acquired at a distance of about 1 million kilometres by the NASA/ESA/ASI Cassini-Huygens spacecraft on 24 October 2004, as it neared its first close encounter with Titan.
A global detached haze layer and discrete cloud-like features high above Titan's northern terminator (day-night transition) are visible in this image taken with a near-ultraviolet filter that is sensitive to scattering by small particles.
This image is a colourised version of an ultraviolet image released on 25 October 2004. The haze has been given colours that are close to what the natural colours are believed to be.
