Fish farm growing Atlantic salmon in the Hardangerfjord, Norway. The world's third largest and Norway's second largest fjord (179 km long and a maximum depth of 800 m) is a major tourist destination, regularly visited by cruises since 1875, due to its spectacular nature, glaciers and grand waterfalls. The area surrounding the fjord is considered to be the fruit orchard of Norway, and has at the same time attracted power-demanding industry because of the abundant hydro-electricity. Today, the Hardangerfjord is one of the major fish farming regions in the world.
