Marjales de Almenara is a wetland located near the city of Almenara in Castellón, Spain. The natural wetland habitats are mainly marshes with aquatic vegetation and reed beds, and the artificial ones are rice fields. As shown on the maps, there have been many changes between 1975 and 2005 in terms of land use and habitat conversions. After the restoration of a part of the cultivated land in the middle of the area (dry crops and rice fields in 1975), new marshes have emerged through a system of canals that provides fresh water and keeps this area permanently flooded.
