In December 2014, the Belgian B-Fast emergency team set up the B-LiFE laboratory at an Ebola treatment centre in N’Zerekore, Guinea, West Africa.
B-LiFE, the biological light fieldable laboratory for emergencies, includes a tent that is easy to set up, specialised equipment to inactivate and analyse biological samples, and an inflatable satellite antenna for satcoms.
Developed within ESA’s ARTES Integrated Applications Promotions programme, B-LiFE is a mobile diagnostic facility for speeding up diagnoses of pathogens in humanitarian and medical emergencies.
