Hanging pots

A variety of pea shown in the RHS 'Rocket Science' Astro Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show grown upside down. This represents a solution in the form of hydroponic growing systems that enable astronauts to control the exact quantities of water and nutrients needed to achieve healthy plant growth. With lower or near zero gravity, water does not freely drain away from the roots in the soil as it does on Earth, causing waterlogging and rotting off.
