ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer
The name of Matthias’ mission, Cosmic Kiss, is a declaration of love for space and communicates the special connection the Station provides between Earth’s inhabitants and the cosmos. Matthias will spend six months in orbit, carrying out vital science and operations on behalf of researchers and international partners worldwide, including 36 German experiments selected by and coordinated with partners of the German Space Agency at DLR.

Maurers Missionsname, Cosmic Kiss, ist eine Liebeserklärung an den Weltraum und verdeutlicht die besondere Verbindung, die die Raumstation zwischen den Bewohnern der Erde und dem Kosmos herstellt. Matthias Mauer wird sechs Monate im Orbit verbringen und im Auftrag von Forschenden und internationalen Partnern weltweit grundlegende wissenschaftliche Arbeiten und Aufgaben durchführen, darunter 36 deutsche Experimente, die von der Deutschen Raumfahrtagentur im DLR ausgewählt und mit Partnern koordiniert werden.
