High temperatures and lack of rainfall have dried up the artificial lake of Lago di Ceresole in Piedmont, northern Italy. Images captured by the Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission show the Orco valley and the frozen lake of Ceresole in March 2021 (right) and, exactly one year later, the large expanse of dry sand in March 2022. The bottom of the lake, which has a capacity of 35 million cubic metres of water, is now completely dry.
