Due to a severe drought currently affecting Mexico, the Nezahualcóyotl Reservoir water level has dropped significantly. As this Copernicus Sentinel-2 animation shows, water levels are so low that a previously submerged and abandoned church, the Iglesia de Quechula, is now above water.
This is not the first time that drought and high temperature has made it possible for the temple to emerge.
As reported by the Copernicus Climate Change Service, parts of Mexico have experienced significantly warmer than normal temperatures.
