SmallGEO is a multipurpose satellite platform capable of accommodating a wide range of commercial telecommunications payloads and missions. Its first mission is with Spanish operator Hispasat's Hispasat 36W-1.
The SmallGEO platform line is developed by Germany's OHB System AG under ESA’s Advanced Research in Telecommunication Systems (ARTES) programme.
This video gives an overview of the first SmallGEO flight and contains interviews with Magali Vaissiere, Director of Telecommunications and Integrated Applications, ESA and Andrea Cotellessa, SmallGEO Platforms Programme Manager, ESA.
