Birds and Satellites

Biologists are using satellite tracking systems to track the migration of rare owls, to study the effect of climate change on their behaviour and migration patterns and to remove manmade hazards from their routes. The tracking device is fixed on the owl with a lightweight device a bit like a tiny rucksack. The device provides information such as temperature and heartrate as well as position. The information is available to users via the internet.
