From on board the International Space Station ESA astronaut Paolo Nespoli presents the SPAC3 project and invites users to be a part of it.
The SPAC3 project is strongly linked to Paolo’s VITA mission and is an integral part of the cooperation with Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto, which started with the use of his Third Paradise symbol in the design of the VITA mission logo.
SPAC3 links space and Earth through a planetary artwork to which everyone can contribute thanks to a free app that combines pictures taken by users with photos by Paolo Nespoli taken in space, using the shape of Pistoletto’s Third Paradise symbol.
The SPAC3 app is developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) with RAM radioartemobile, in cooperation with the Italian Space Agency (ASI), and Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto, to raise awareness forEarth conservation and engage the public by creating a ‘social artwork’. The images generated with the combination of space and Earth photos, once shared on Twitter, , will become part of a large, interactive mosaic in the shape of the Third Paradise symbol, allowing all to participate to this unique, dynamic ‘social artwork’.
ESA astronaut Paolo Nespoli is currently working and living on board the International Space Station as part of the Italian Space Agency’s long-duration VITA mission.
