ESA Head of Space Medicine, Guillaume Weerts, gives an update on ESA’s 2021-22 astronaut selection from the training hall of ESA’s European Astronaut Centre (EAC) in Cologne, Germany.
More than 23 000 people from countries across Europe put themselves forward for ESA’s first astronaut selection in 11 years when applications opened in early 2021. Due to the high volume of applications, and the need to give each application the attention it deserves, processing is taking longer than expected. However, all applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by the end of 2021.
Guillaume thanks everyone who applied and reminds those who have been unsuccessful this time that this is not the only opportunity available at ESA. See the ESA Jobs website for more information as you find #YourWayToSpace.
