From the 14 to 15 November 2001 Ministers responsible for space from the 15 Member States of the European Space Agency (ESA) and Canada met in Edinburgh. The Council Meeting of ESA at Ministerial Level will set the course for the development of Europe's space programme for the five years ahead.
The previous ESA Ministerial Council meeting took place in May 1999 in Brussels. Following a similar format in Edinburgh, Ministers will be invited to commit to the next stage of a series of current ESA Programmes, and to invest in a raft of new programmes designed to keep Europe at the forefront of space activity.
This short VNR provides an overview of the meeting in Edinburgh and highlights some of the current and future ESA programmes on which the Council will make decisions. This transmission comprises of a 3 minute A-Roll with English commentary and is complemented by a longer B-roll with clean international sound.
