Join the new edition of Climate Detectives school project and make a difference in protecting our planet’s environment!

In the Climate Detectives school project, teams of students aged 8 to 15 years old are challenged to investigate a local climate problem using real satellite images, historical climate data, or even their own measurements and then propose a way to monitor, reduce, or mitigate the problem they investigated. In the end, students share their results, and they can see what other teams have done across the Climate Detectives community.

Data gathered by the Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission is used for monitoring Earth. You can also monitor our planet like a real scientist.

This way everyone can learn from the team’s work and students can also raise awareness of the problem they have investigated. For inspiration have a look to the project gallery. Relevant environmental and climate challenges like droughts, melting glaciers, deforestation and adaptation of agriculture are some examples of topics that students worked in the past editions.

Meet the scientists!

At key phases of the project, real experts in the field of Earth observation and climate will support the teams by giving feedback on their investigation plan via email and during an online ‘ask the scientist’ event.

Get involved!
