N° 30–2005: ESA experts at Le Bourget 2005

For the 46th Paris Air Show, which runs from 13 to 19 June, the European Space Agency - while not itself participating this time round - has been invited by some of its partners to share media activities.
ESA experts will be contributing to the following press events at Le Bourget:
Monday 13 June
16:00-17:00 - Location: DASSAULT stand
Press briefing: ESA’s Technology Transfer programme will assist Bertrand Picard’s flight around the word in the solar-powered aircraft Solar Impulse.
With Pierre Brisson, Head of ESA Technology Transfer & Promotion Office.
Tuesday 14 June
11:30-13:00 - Location: Chalet ALTRAN Presentation on ESA’s Automated Transfer Vehicle “Jules Verne” by Jean-Pierre Arlabosse, SEGIME consultant, with the participation of the astronauts Jean-François Clervoy, ESA, and Sergey Treschev, RSCE.
Wednesday 15 June
16:00-17:00 - Location: CNES chalet, Press Centre
Press briefing on “Soyuz in French Guiana”, with Jean-Marc Astorg (CNES), Jean-Pierre Haigneré (ESA) and Bruno Gérard (Arianespace).
Thursday 16 June
10:00-12:30 - Location: Chalet ALTRAN
Conference on technology transfer for non-space spin-offs, focusing on the medical sector.
With Pierre Brisson, Head of ESA Technology Transfer & Promotion Office.
17:30-18:30 - Location: Salle 4, GIFAS conference centre Press conference along with the signing of the contract for the development phase of the Alphabus Large Platform programme.
With Giuseppe Viriglio, ESA Director of European Union and Industrial programmes, Jack Bosma, Head of ESA's Large Platform mission office, plus top representatives from CNES, Alcatel Space and EADS Astrium.
Throughout the duration of the Air Show, live demonstrations of the AmerHis telecommunications system – the first European "broadband switchboard in space" - will be given in conjunction with Alcatel Space. An ESA multimedia van will demonstrate the possibilities offered by this advanced-performance system, which delivers low-cost real-time interactive broadband communication services connecting a number of distant locations.
The European ISS Business Club, ESA's industry club for the system integrators and suppliers of the European elements of the International Space Station, will also be on-site throughout the Show. At its booth located in Hall 3/D1, trade visitors and the general public will be introduced to the Club and its service portfolio. As a special highlight, IBC representatives will visit selected companies together with ESA astronaut Jean-François Clervoy. The Club will also be hosting a business get-together for its Members and specially-invited guests on 14 June at 18.00.
