Description of the CanSat Missions: GPS location and Planetary Probe.
We will acquire samples from the atmosphere and possibly from the terrain and try to analyse them for bacillary activity, and measure certain chemicals attached to life forms like Methane gas, Carbon Dioxide, Oxygen, photosynthesis etc.
After the retrieval we will try to understand if the planet has some of the needed elements to sustain life by itself or if it has the proper elements to create a controlled environment like a laboratory or an outpost. We will also search for traces of life similar to the life forms we have on Earth.

Progress: We finished and tested the external and inner structure. We found a container for the CanSat that is sturdy and capacious. To fit the bulky air sample collector, the servo motor, it’s extra battery and it’s antenna we had to mount the electronic modules on the opposite (back) side of the aluminum base. We tested the components and wires distribution to ensure they have enough room.
We have mounted the parachute and the GPS module and connected them with the microcontroller. We programmed the microcontroller to collect and transmit the data from the Pressure and Temperature sensors and the GPS module and tested the transmission, storage and process in our computers. We tested the function of the air sample collector and we tested how the measurements of CO2 (in ppm), Relative Humidity (%), O2 (%) and Radioactivity (in Bq) will be taken after we retrieve the air sample.
