Exercise 1: Inspect the Meteosat images

The cloud pattern of Europe can be seen very well on the images in the online application. Start with the IR 10.8 µm image. Compare the 6 Meteosat images. Use both the geostationary and map views.

1. Describe the cloud pattern on the IR 10.8 µm Meteosat image.

2. How does the cloud pattern on the Meteosat image compare with the cloud pattern where you live and with the other reported observations on the Meteosat image?

3. Compare the IR 10.8 µm image with the VIS 0.6 µm image. Describe the differences between the two images.
