Today the German National Steering Committee (NSC) announced the ‘Teaching Science in Europe’ conference, due to take place from 22-24 September 2006 in Wolfsburg, Germany.

At this conference the German NSC will present their publication “Teaching Science in Europe” to teachers and to people working in the field of education. This is the conclusion of their biennial European exchange process for developing teaching concepts and materials in science education.

An invitation has been extended to other Science on Stage National Steering Committees to send representatives to the conference, which will take place at the Phaeno Science Centre.

The opening ceremony on Friday evening will start with two performances from France and Denmark and a welcome reception. On Saturday and Sunday, the publication will be presented and the results of the related working groups will be reviewed with participants. Workshops will also take place and the continuation of the German Science on Stage activities in 2007 will be discussed. On Saturday evening a guest scientist from the German Task Force Committee for Earthquakes will talk about the Tsunami Early Warning System.

It is expected that 150 will participate in the conference. “We are looking forward to welcoming you in Wolfsburg and we hope that some of the NSC members will be able to attend the meeting!”, says Stefanie Zweifel of the German National Steering Committee.
