ESA at New Scientist Live
This year will once more see ESA astronauts and space experts touch down in London for the New Scientist Live, from 28 September to 1 October.
Tim Peake will be on stage on the opening day with fellow astronauts Helen Sharman and Al Worden, answering the audience’s questions about life on the International Space Station – something the next day’s guest, Station veteran Paolo Nespoli, will also be able to say a thing or two about as he calls in live from the Station.
New Scientist Live is a four-day festival of ideas and discovery taking place at the London ExCeL. It is organised by New Scientist, the international magazine dedicated to all aspects of science.
Rooted in the biggest and most provocative science that touches all areas of human life, the show will feature over 200 exhibitors, 120 speakers, seven theatres and five immersive zones covering Cosmos, Humans, Earth, Technology and Engineering to showcase how science and technology drive our economy and improve our lives.
ESA is in partnership with the UK Space Agency, Satellite Applications Catapult, RAL Space and Airbus to offer experts who will be on hand to answer questions on anything from CubeSats to space debris to the surprising ways space technology can be used here on Earth.
Visitors to the exhibition will also get the chance to learn more about some of ESA’s inspiring upcoming missions, as they are greeted by a life-size model of the latest EDRS-SpaceDataHighway laser satellite, a model of the Hubble successor James Webb Space Telescope and the ExoMars Bruno rover prototype.
