Rosetta congratulations delivered to your door
All mail delivered in the UK on Friday 14 November and Saturday the 15th will be given a special postmark, as the world's fascination with Rosetta is even being reflected by the Royal Mail.
The postmark reads "Celebrating the first ever landing on a comet. Congratulations to the European Space Agency." It will be stamped on all national post on Friday and Saturday, with Royal Mail considering extending the campaign to next week.
Royal Mail Group create special postmarks celebrating all momentous national events. The dramatic buildup and landing of Philae as part of the Rosetta mission has received unprecedented coverage in the UK, which inspired this particular issue.
Andrew Hammond from Royal Mail, said: “We’re thrilled to be marking the European Space Agency’s fantastic achievement with one of our special postmarks.
“The Rosetta mission has captured the public’s imagination and excitement about space exploration, and we’re pleased to be recognising this historic moment in this unique way.
“Our postmark is set to take off and will appear on mail delivered by our postmen and women across the UK.”
