Assembly of Space CFRP Structures using Racing Sailing Boat Technology
In ITI, a development activity has been performed to develop high performance, cost efficient, CFRP joining techniques for CFRP Panels for Space Applications. This ITI project is a common effort of the four participants in order to try to reduce the weight and cost of these joints, by means of including a solution concept coming from the racing sailing boats technology: the use of out-of autoclave cured CFRP joints.
The verification methods have been developed and are correlated to test specimens.
